Sweet Rumpus of Love is a magical glam forest inspired by the fashion palette of late 70’s British rock icons David Bowie and Marc Bolan. The short-lived musical movement was characterized by a glitzy gender-bending aesthetic and mythological story-telling. The window box installation uses humble materials (cardboard, tempera, and fabric) to honor and expand upon the glamorous kitsch of the era. We could all use a little joy these troubled days.
Daniela Koontz is a Box 13 artist who ordinarily creates delicate works on paper. This installation project is a new experiment for her.
