Dear Friends of the BOX,
Every year for the past 10 years, we have hosted an in-person silent auction fundraiser, the Empty BOX. This year, our 12th year in operation (Senior Year!), we had an amazing prom themed party planned, took “Senior Portraits” of our Artist Members, and we were so looking forward to seeing your “Prom” outfits and crowning our royal court. Aside from being a giant celebration of all things BOX 13, the Empty BOX is also an opportunity to bid on artwork by local artists, and provides vital funds that keep us sustainable.
In March of this year, we closed our doors to the public due to to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was an easy decision, as the health and safety of our Member Artists who studio with us, and that of our guests and exhibiting artists, is of utmost importance. The more difficult part was having to figure out what would replace the Empty BOX, typically held the first Saturday in May.
We decided to go online, using Indiegogo for our auction! Just as with the Empty BOX silent auction, through this Indiegogo campaign we would like to provide you with an opportunity to begin or enhance your art collection while supporting what we do. In exchange for your support, we have a selection of artworks from BOX 13 Member Artists that will be updated weekly, as well as limited edition perks like enamel pins, BOX 13 artist-designed koozies, mugs, totes and T-shirts. The auction runs until October 3rd, don’t miss out! Please see the image slider below for some examples of artwork in the auction.
BOX 13 ArtSpace is a 100% volunteer artist run non-profit. 70% percent of our expenses are paid by Member Artists who rent studio space and, in turn, commit to help run the organization. The other 30% of our expenses come from our exhibition spaces and facility costs, and are paid through our annual fundraiser and grants. This additional support and fundraising goes directly to maintaining the exhibition spaces, programming public events and building maintenance. Simply put, without the money raised from the Empty BOX, we cannot continue.
