BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four exhibitions opening January 14, 2023, 1 – 5PM.
In the Front BOX the exhibition Curated by Kaitlyn Ellison titled Words Find Their Home in Silence, where artist Ahra Cho brings to light the ephemeral impressions of her world through multiple modes of communication.
Then in our Back BOX artist Nicole Sara Simpkins uses cyanotypes to feature non-native, introduced, and so-called invasive plant species in her show entitled Despite All Insults.
Moving on to the Window BOX artist René Lee Henry and Molly Koehn collaborate to create an installation work entitled Structural Dichotomy that embraces these dichotomies of Houston’s fabricated environment, offering parallels between abandoned and claimed, natural and synthetic, stable and decayed, and strength and fragility.
Finally the Upstairs BOX Jean Shon’s work this place that bears my past doesn’t even know my name an installation negotiating the desire to live with loss and remain tethered to the past through the intersections and limitations of text, light, and movement.
The exhibitions continue through February 25, 2023. An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, 1 – 5PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace, 6700 Harrisburg, Houston, TX 77011.
