BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four exhibitions opening September 1st, 6:30PM – 9:30PM.

In the Front BOX gallery we feature artists Elias Lytton and Angel Quesada whose exhibition is titled Beautropism. Both use flowers as a jumping off point to examine perception and the body’s interaction with beauty as it aligns with divinity, which is vital to our humanity. Then in our Back BOX gallery Eden Collins takes over the space for their work titled A Night with Anita. Using installation, performance, sculpture, video among other techniques, she will transform the space into a full sensory experience. Moving to our Window BOX, Marcos Hernandez Chavez @marcos.el.indio presents “Los dos amigos”. Using self-built peg boards, he weaves expressionist and now figurative compositions with various spools of wool yarn. This diptych in particular is an attempt to weave various historical, personal and social contexts in between the imagery. Finally, Upstairs BOX #SueñoAmericano is a series of images of sunrises and sunsets from Airplane windows that are printed on a Kraft American Single and encased in a plexiglass window created by artist Lauren Cardenas. These works question the reality of the “American Dream” and its false promises of acceptance and opportunity for all.

These exhibitions continue through October 7, 2023. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, September 1st, 6:30PM – 9:30PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace, 6700 Harrisburg, Houston, TX 77011.
