BOX13 ArtSpace is pleased to present three new exhibitions opening Friday October 25, 2024 6pm to 9pm.
In the Front BOX gallery, Kevin Lopez‘s “A Thinning of the Veneer,” will explore the multiplicity of the inner self. Through the use of simultaneous figures and curiously unique painting structures, the exhibition asks viewers to question their identities, and likewise, the identities of others. In the Upstairs BOX gallery will be “The Myth of colonization,” an exhibition by local artist Daniel Anguilu. In this body of work he examines the complexities of colonization emphasizing on the false narrative about religion, language and the agreements that were made after the invasion and war. And finally, in the Window BOX gallery, artist Sue Montoya will create “Rastros” (2024), a series of truck piñatas made from solo auto magazines found in Houston to explore themes of accumulation, car culture, and familial histories of labor.
The exhibitions continue through November 23, 2024. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday October 25, 2024 6pm to 9pm at BOX13 ArtSpace, 6700 Harrisburg, Houston, TX 77011.
