Fall Festival “Myths and Leyendas”

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston hosted an action-packed family festival celebrating legends and folklore from a variety of countries and cultures in the Americas. The fall festival featured new, temporary large-scale sculptures by six Houston Latinx artists. Organized by ALMAAHH in partnership with MFAH.

“Artist-run, Artist-organized,” was organized by FotoFest and featured projects by three artist groups: “Migrating Memories and the Spaces Between” by La Mecha Contemporary (El Paso, TX); “Apeirophobia” by Omnigenesis (Austin, Dallas, Denton, San Antonio, TX); and “Troubling the Boundaries” by Throughline Collective (Houston, TX). Alexander is a member of the Throughline Collective and exhibited in this group show.

In this solo exhibition at [TXST] Galleries, the artist treats the gallery like a diorama or a set from her latest stop-motion animation video titled “Scene 8: The Aircraft’s Refrigerated Storage.” This exhibition is part of an ongoing series that conflates notes on travel with impressions of everyday life.
