Mend with Friends is a Houston-based sewing club, facilitated by artists Autumn McIlraith (@paper.autumn) and Naomi Kuo (@kuokuopuffs), a current BOX 13 member. The purpose of the group is to encourage people to extend the lives of their clothes and other textile items through practical and creative mending. The group is also about building community around sustainability and skill sharing. All sewing skill levels are welcome!

Mend with Friends meets monthly on Wednesday evenings. Most meetings will be at various coffee shops from 5:30-7:30pm. These will opportunities for folks to work on their own mending projects in a casual, social and collaborative setting. Once a quarter, meetings will be held at BOX 13 ArtSpace from 6-9pm and include an hour-long workshop on specific topics and techniques.

Upcoming Events:

To participate, bring one or more items of clothing to mend and any supplies you may need and have for your project (ex: needles, thread, scissors, scrap fabric). Some basic tools and materials will be provided as needed.

Participation is free of charge, though donations are welcome. Street parking @BOX13 is available along Cesar Chavez Blvd and Capitol St. Enter through the glass doors on Harrisburg Blvd. For more information, follow the artists on IG or email nkuo19@gmail.com.
