Fall Festival “Myths and Leyendas”

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston hosted an action-packed family festival celebrating legends and folklore from a variety of countries and cultures in the Americas. The fall festival featured new, temporary large-scale sculptures by six Houston Latinx artists. Organized by ALMAAHH in partnership with MFAH.

“Artist-run, Artist-organized,” was organized by FotoFest and featured projects by three artist groups: “Migrating Memories and the Spaces Between” by La Mecha Contemporary (El Paso, TX); “Apeirophobia” by Omnigenesis (Austin, Dallas, Denton, San Antonio, TX); and “Troubling the Boundaries” by Throughline Collective (Houston, TX). Alexander is a member of the Throughline Collective and exhibited in this group show.

In Scene 8: Aircraft Carrier

In this solo exhibition at [TXST] Galleries, the artist treats the gallery like a diorama or a set from her latest stop-motion animation video titled “Scene 8: The Aircraft’s Refrigerated Storage.” This exhibition is part of an ongoing series that conflates notes on travel with impressions of everyday life.

Congratulations to aisha for being awarded the Let Creativity Happen grant! This competitive grant is awarded by the The City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) and administered by Houston Arts Alliance (HAA). Awards support innovative ideas that redefine artistic boundaries, reshape the conversation about art and art experiences, and/or establish unique opportunities to experience art.
 
The grant supports aisha’s project, PUSH/PULL, which will be exhibited at Box13 in May 2025.
